Digital Cameras Under $50

Underwater Digital Cameras - What You Ought To Know

Underwater digital cameras let you capture the secrets of the deep. (Whether that be the ocean or the spa!)

But even though you like water -- the digital camera doesn't. Before you go off chasing the fishies like Jacques Cousteau, there exists a few things about underwater photography you must know.

For starters, did you know digital camera you already own can be converted to an underwater camera? Yes it can! With the proper equipment that is. A watertight casing let's you employ your favorite camera for anyone 'under the sea' moments.

However, if you're not willing to risk the digital camera to the ocean's depths, there are many models on the market to decide on that are made to get wet. Read more about that later.

How deep can you go with your underwater camera? Some models will enable you to go as far 120 feet. For some individuals, you're limited to only 6 feet below the top. Keep in mind the type of photography you're going to capture and the cameras capabilities when choosing the right model. (Again, more to follow along with!)

Like all cameras, the purchase price varies according to the features it comes with. You can get a 'cheapie' underwater digital camera for as low as $30. And people familiar with photography be aware of upper end of most quality photography equipment can be rather expensive - and unending. Pro models might want to use a thousand dollars ... and up!

Budget underwater cameras have fewer megapixels and never many options. Of course, for any price, you can find the exact features you would like (and are willing to buy).

There are a few things to bear in mind when you're out looking for an underwater digital camera. First, the pixel count. Most cameras sold today have an overabundance than enough megapixels. Having more MPs doesn't invariably mean better pictures. It is the size of the camera's sensor that will ultimately determine photo quality. You're often best buying a brand name camera with fewer pixels than an off-brand model using a larger number.

Somewhat mega pixel tip: Should you ultimately want to post your picture on the net or send it in an email, any megapixel size is going to do. Really! Your computer screen can only display so much detail so those super-duper size megapixel cameras aren't needed.

For printing pictures, the dimensions of the final photo will determine your megapixel count. For any 4x6 print, you'll do fine with just a 3 MP camera. (Unless you want to do a lot of zooming and cropping).

If you want 8x10 prints, a 5MP or larger camera 's what you need. But megapixels are just part of the equation. Ultimately the sharpness of the final picture is caused by the camera, the lens, lighting, and the quality of your camera sensor, not just the number of megapixels.

You might want to 'stick your toe within the water' with a disposable underwater camera. These little numbers are inexpensive and so are easy to carry. You can get them in film for a few bucks.

For family fun by the pool or pool, an economical film camera is your best bet. (The kids may have a blast with it too!) The bad news is that you'll have to wait until the photos are developed before you can see your exciting underwater shots.
